Next week (August 29-September 1), every day except Friday, KGNU will be hosting shows on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the 8:35 a.m. hour.
The anticipated schedule is:
Monday (30 minutes)
David Bell, Agriculture Division Manager of the Boulder County Parks and Open Space, will talk about our open space, how the county operates and how decisions are made. He will be joined by Mary Mulry, a doctor of Food Science.
Tuesday (30 minutes)
Shelley Schlender’s show, How on Earth, will discuss the science.
Wednesday (60 minutes)
Panelists will be Fred Kirschenmann, of the Leopold Institute; Patrick Byrne, a CSU science professor; Robyn O’Brien, a local author who says there’s a link between allergies and GMOs; and Nick Sterling of Natural Capitalism Solutions, the company that was commissioned by the county to do a study on the current research on GMOs.
Thursday (60 minutes, including call-in time)
Panelists will be Boulder County Commissioner Will Toor; Mark Retzloff, natural foods retailer and once-again owner of Alfalfa’s; Frank Hodge of Father Earth Farm, an organic farmer; and Dick Miller of Mike Ag Corp., a conventional/GMO farmer.
