From 1994 through 2009, farmers markets increased in Colorado by 13%. The assessment also reveals that the largest consumption of fruits and vegetables occurs in Boulder County with Larimer and Weld following farther behind in purchase and consumption of fruits and vegetables. By far, Colorado consumers perceive locally grown food to support the local economy and to offer a quality superior to food grown in other areas.
