As of 2:30 PM today, Governor Bill Ritter selected Deputy Attorney General Monica Marquez to fill Molly Mullarky’s position on the Supreme Court. She is the first Latina and openly gay nominee to be appointed to the state’s highest court. She was quoted in The Denver Business Journal as saying

“I am both humbled and deeply honored to be appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court…I look forward to serving the state of Colorado in this new capacity, and I promise to bring an exceptional work ethic, a collaborative spirit, an open mind, and a reverence for the rule of law.”
