Who: Coalition of concerned Boulder Citizens: Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice, Vox Feminista, Clean Energy Action, Greenpeace, Earth Guardians, among others
What: A Rally for Boulder’s Clean Energy Future
When: Tuesday, August 3 at 5:00 p.m. – Clean Energy Rally
Where: SW Corner of Broadway and Canyon – in front of Boulder Municipal Building
Why: On August 3, the Boulder City Council will hold a final reading on the issue of Boulder’s 20-year Franchise Agreement with Xcel Energy which expires this year. This is a critical opportunity for Boulder as it allows the community to fully consider its options for a clean, cost-effective energy future. Boulder citizens from a broad array of groups are holding the rally to urge City Council to keep Boulder’s options open by not entering into a new 20-year franchise agreement with Xcel and to pursue the fastest, most cost-effective path to decarbonize Boulder’s electrical supply.
