The ballots are here and it’s time to vote in the Boulder municipal election. But first, educate yourself about the who and the what. As in past elections, the Blue Line has pulled together the resources to help you do your homework before casting your vote.
The Community Questionnaire
Research the candidates’ positions on dozens of issues, identified by dozens of community organizations, with our Community Questionnaire tool. Find out who does and doesn’t support 300 and 301, where the candidates land on occupancy limits, who supports municipalization, how they intend to reach underrepresented voters, whether dogs and bikes should have more access to open space, what they think about Boulder Junction, how they might help seniors age in place and lots of other issues. Give it a try—it’s kinda fun.
Candidate Profiles
We engaged former Daily Camera reporter Brittany Anas to write profiles of each of the candidates, with instructions to find out more about the candidates’ backgrounds, what brought them to Boulder and what motivates them. Check out the profiles by clicking on a link in the table below. And, if you haven’t already, read reporter Erica Meltzer’s excellent articles about her walkabouts with the candidates in the Daily Camera.

Support the Blue Line
In the 5 years since we launched the Blue Line, we have hosted over 1000 posts by 150 authors from the Boulder community. We’re pretty proud of how far we’ve come as an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. We try to offer fresh, relevant content, and we’re very excited about the election coverage we’re providing this year. But we can’t do it all without your support.
How can you help?
- Become a Sponsor: we operate on the tiniest of budgets, using unpaid labor, open-source software, free email services, and royalty-free images as much as possible. But we still have typical small business expenses, offer occasional small gifts to Blue Line community authors, and, this year, provide real compensation to a reporter. Become a Sponsor and be featured on the Blue Line’s home page. Contact our treasurer, Valerie Yates, for details.
- Donate: if you appreciate the Blue Line but don’t want to be featured on our home page, just visit the Blue Line’s donation page. Every little bit helps.
- Share your expertise: the feedback we receive is that our readers enjoy articles that help them understand issues that are otherwise not covered in sufficient depth in other media. If you have a particular area of expertise and can offer information or perspectives that fill a gap, please send your articles, commentaries, photographs, etc. to the Blue Line.
- Be a reporter: attend a public meeting and write it up for the Blue Line. This is a huge community service and very welcome content.
Happy voting!
