Cooling the Climate Candidates Forum: Tackling Smokestacks, Tailpipes and Trash Cans

By

Monday, September 30th, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Boulder Public Library, Canyon Theater

What do council candidates say about how we can take action on climate change? Join Eco-Cycle, the Sierra Club and Community Cycles at their Cooling the Climate Candidates Forum: Tackling Smokestacks, Tailpipes and Trash Cansforum.  This is a great opportunity for voters to hear the candidates discuss how we as a city are going to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

At the forum, candidates will be asked questions about how they would address one of the least understood, but most impactful, short-term greenhouse gas emitters: the “trash can.” They’ll also be asked how they would implement the solutions found in increasing Boulder’s waste diversion rate and moving toward a “Zero Waste future” of recycling, composting, reusing, repairing, waste reduction and green purchasing. They’ll answer questions regarding long-term solutions to “smokestack” emitters, such as municipalizing Boulder’s electric utility and using more renewable energy sources like wind and solar. They will also discuss “tailpipe” emitters, or automobiles, and how we can transition from a car-based culture to a bicycle, pedestrian and public transit-based community.

Please bring a friend.  The new City Council needs to hear how important addressing climate disruption is to our community.

Seating is limited! RSVP: rsvp@ecocycle.org by Friday, September 27.
