Louisa M. Young graduated with a BA from the University of Iowa in 1964. She earned a Juris Doctor at the University of Iowa Law School in 1966 and promptly went into private practice. She developed an expertise in preparation of individual income tax returns and estate planning (including Advance Medical Directives), and she continued to do that out of her home for the first 25 years she has been a lawyer. That home has been located in the Boulder area since 1976. In the summer of 1996 she volunteered for the Lend-A-Lawyer program, sponsored by the Colorado Bar Association helping poor people in southern Colorado with issues such as tenant evictions and similar disputes, child custody, divorce, consumer credit problems, and a wide variety of other issues. She maintains an office in Boulder where she continues her work in her established and new fields. Louisa is the president of the League of Women Voters of Boulder County.
