John Gray is a musicologist, classical pianist, academic, and environmental activist. He is a recipient of numerous academic honors and has presented his research at regional, national, and international venues. 1997, he received the Humanities Dissertation Award for the outstanding dissertation in the Humanities for the academic year 1995-96 at University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1998, he was nominee for the Society of Fellows, Harvard University. In that same year he was awarded a Newberry Library Fellowship.
